Ambassadors
We’re looking for folks that would be willing to share their ADK experiences with others.
Did you know that our Chapter is frequently invited to set up a display and talk about ADK at schools, health fairs, malls, expos and other locations? While we love to participate in as many of these as possible, it often proves difficult to find volunteers in a timely manner. To solve this problem, we’ve set up a Google Group called GVC Ambassadors. We’re asking anyone who would be interested in promoting ADK-GVC to join it. NO COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED … When we get an invitation we’ll send it to the GVC Ambassadors email list. If it’s a time you are free and willing to attend, just let us know!

Volunteer opportunities abound!
The Adirondack Mountain Club is a volunteer organization. Without volunteers we do not exist.
The annual ADK Outdoor Expo is our biggest event of the year. We look for members to volunteer their time at the event in any way possible. We need people to help at the registration table, first aid table, workshops and the waterways events on the beach.
Another way to help is simply to show up at any of the committee meetings listed on the events and outings schedule. Rest assured you will not be turned away.

Volunteer of the Year
Like many volunteer-based organizations, the Genesee Valley Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club is only as strong and healthy as the volunteer efforts of its membership. Because of the recent extraordinary work of so many members, our current Chapter has never been stronger and is unquestionably one of the healthiest in all of ADK.
Each year we honor a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the Genesee Valley Chapter of ADK. That contribution can be an extraordinary amount of time and energy spent on the Chapter, in general; or a discrete contribution that has been particularly noteworthy. If you know someone who meets this measure please send their name and a brief description of this contribution to the Chapter Chair at chair@gvc-adk.org. Nominations must be made by 30 November."
Volunteer of the month
Volunteers are the core of the Genesee Valley Chapter of ADK. There are many times when a member has led a trip in an exemplary way, or carried out a successful event, or made a noteworthy contribution to the Chapter. The Chapter wants to recognize those members and encourage others to emulate them.
If you want to say "nice work" to a current member, send the name of the member and a brief description of their accomplishment to the Chapter Chair at chair@gvc-adk.org. Recognition will be through a brief Geneseean article and posting to the website.
