Discovering how and why tsunamis occur, the hazard they pose to our coasts, understanding what to do in order to mitigate the effects of tsunamis. These are the topics covered in this video with the use of computer graphics animation. By documenting the most significant events that have affected the Italian territory over the centuries, we present the systems operated by INGV to monitor the Mediterranean region.

The knowledge of tsunami risk and information on the optimal behavior to adopt in the case of tsunami are the condition to reduce its potentially catastrophic impact.
