Pleased to get Enlivened published - had to delay publication slightly just to make a few tweaks.
Less connected to my other books than usual. Still set in the same world but so far the only connection is through references in passing to a supporting character in The Second Circle. Not that there's any similarities between the two books beyond the London setting. The Second Circle is set in 1919 and doesn't feature any supernatural occurrences. Enlivened is set in 1943 and is chockablock with the paranormal.
Working title was The Disturbed, which is kept as an alternate, playing off the Do Not Disturb motif.
Closest in tone to Traveler's Respite, Enlivened is set in a hotel giving the opportunity to explore different characters in each chapter, giving the feel of linked short stories.
Had ideas of adding additional interludes exploring Tilly, Jacky and Cavalli - decided against it ultimately, though got furthest with Jacky's section. This would have been added either just before or after the bellboy's fall into the abyss.
Additional connection established in Incarnate, Boon makes a late appearance.
