Walk-Thru FAQ

May I pay with a credit card at Walk-Thru?

You may pay your donation to the PFA Education Fund with a credit card or check. All other expenses, donations, and fees paid to the school must be paid by cash or check.

What is my $295 Education Fund Donation used for?

Your PFA Ed Fund contribution helps provide:

    • Reduced math and science class sizes in all grades

    • School-wide technology upgrades

    • Lunchtime library access for students

    • Computer lab instructional assistant

    • Technology support to students and staff

What are the Class Donations used for?

Core classes of Social Studies and English use your donated funds to purchase classroom sets of novels, books and atlases that your child may keep at the end of the year, as well as supplies for projects and the classroom.

The Science Department at all grade levels uses donated funds for ALL labs, the use of technology, and other supplies for the classroom.

The Math Department uses donated funds for after school assistance provided for all students and supplies for the classroom.

The Foreign Language Department uses donated funds to purchase a workbook for each student and supplies for the classroom.

Electives receive the least amount of money from the state. Your donated funds pay for the supplies needed for General Shop, Art, Communications, Band, ECK or Auto Learner (Horticulture), PLTW, On Your Own and Drama classes. Without your donation the electives are extremely limited in providing a diverse curriculum for your child.

Do I need to purchase a P.E. Uniform?

For your convenience we have the P.E. uniform available for you at a discounted price you cannot find at a store. The P.E. uniform will be the same as last year's, so your student’s uniform from last year may be used again. P.E. teachers will determine the size of the uniform your child needs during the Walk-Thru. This helps to keep the sagging and bagging under control.

We suggest that you buy only one uniform at this time. If you find that you need a second set, we will have additional uniforms available at the P.E. office.

What is HomeLink?

HomeLink is a secure and private online resource that will provide access to your child's attendance, grades and other useful education data.

Incoming 6th graders and students NEW to the Mt. Diablo School District will need to sign up for this program. There will be a table at Walk-Thru where you may pick up your verification code so that you can create your HomeLink account online.

This account will follow your student through any school in our district. Therefore, you need to sign up only once.

What is the Student Body Sticker?

Your donation for the Student Body Sticker helps raise funds for assemblies and noon time activities. Students whose families donate the $10 will receive a sticker on their ID card which enables these students to receive a discount on any dances and/or drama productions they attend.

Lockers

Foothill is the only middle school in our district that has lockers for our students. Lockers are for 7th and 8th graders. Because there are a limited amount of lockers, students must share a locker. The cost of a locker is $10.00 per locker or $5.00 per student.

If you applied for the locker prior to August 6th, you will receive a locker at Walk-Thru.

If you missed the locker applications may still be picked up prior to Walk-Thru however we cannot guarantee that you will receive a locker at Walk-Thru.

Do I hand in a Support Counselor Form?

You only need to turn in this form if you do not want your child to see the counselor without your notification

Can I request a class schedule change?

Schedule changes will be made only if a student does not have a complete schedule. If your child is missing a class or has a period that is unassigned, please see office personnel or call the office at 939-8600.

What transportation options are available at FMS?

Due to the state and district budget crisis, the district will not be able to provide transportation directly to Foothill. The County Connection Bus does provide limited service to this area. Visit their website at www.ccta.org or call 676-7500 for more information.
