Eye movement classification:
Conjugate = eye moves in the same direction
Optokinetic
Vestibulo-ocular - maintain fixation as we move our head
Dysconjugate = eyes move in opposite direction
Vergence - convergence & divergence - near far fixation
Neuronal pathways Supranuclear neuronal pathways - conduct impulses to the gaze centers from cortex;
Internuclear pathways - coordinate the gaze centers with the ocular motor nuclei;
Infranuclear pathways - the individual ocular motor nerves.
motor cortex → (supranuclear pathways) gaze centers → (via internuclear pathways) ocular motor nuclei → (via infranuclear pathways) cranial nerves (CN 3,4 and 6) → muscles.
