Theme: Theory and Practice of L2 Teaching

Main Lecturer: David Newby, Graz University, Austria.

David Newby is associate professor of linguistics and language teaching methodology and research at Graz University. He has taught English in Thailand, Kuwait, Austria and the UK and has lectured and held workshops for teachers and teacher trainers for both the Council of Europe and the British Council in a variety of countries. He has worked for the European Center for Modern Languages and is author and coordinator of the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages which appeared in 2007. During the workshop, he will give two lectures: 1) European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages, and 2) Cognitive + Communicative Grammar.

Places will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. (max 30).

Participation Fee: \9,000 (Program Fee; \3,000, Room and Board+Party\6,000). The deposit for registration is \3,000 (\1,000 for a family member). The rest, \6,000 (\5,000 for a family member), will be collected on site. The deposit is non-refundable.

Presentation: You are welcome to apply to give a presentation. If you would like to do so, please indicate the title on the Registration Form. There are 5 slots (30 min each) for presentations.
