Workshop Group 5

Please view the video "The Flipped Classroom is Not"

This video is just under 3 1/2 minutes long.

Discuss the video with your group. Summarize the main ideas and consider the questions below:

    • The narrator tells us that classroom teachers should create videos to meet students' needs. Is he right? What do you think about the use of Khan Academy and other outside sources to create "lecture" materials?
    • Does the flipped classroom demand more from teachers in class? If we can interact with every student during class, how would this change our teaching?
    • Does the flipped classroom seem more like a "flavor of the week" or something teachers will embrace? Why do you think this?
    • "The flipped classroom is not easy." How can you cope with and remedy push back from students to make this model successful?

Record notes from your discussion in the Google Doc. Your notes will be stored on this workshop website for future reference.
