Please read the article "Tips to Help You Flip Your Classroom"
The article is somewhat long, so do your best to scan the whole thing.
Discuss the reading with your group. Summarize the main arguments and consider the following questions:
- Much of the literature about the flipped classroom comes from the k-12 environment, like this one. Is teaching at the college level different, in terms of flipping a class? How? Are there any similarities?
- This article highlights the increased class time for student-driven activities that the flipped classroom can offer. Is the model really more efficient? Are students being asked to do too much? Does it demand more from teachers?
- What do you think of the suggestion to flip meetings? Are there other venues you'd like to see experimenting with a flipped model?
- What do you think of the suggestion to have students create "lecture" materials? What are the challenges or advantages of doing this?
