EXECUTIVE ORDER 2013-030
FLAGS FLOWN AT HALF STAFF IN HONOR AND MOURNING OF
U.S. FOREST SERVICE CAPTAIN TOKEN ADAMS
WHEREAS, Firefighter Token Adams, who honorably served the United States Forest Service, Jemez Ranger District, was found on Friday, September 6, 2013, at the age of 41, after going missing exactly one week earlier;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams, grew up in Coarsegold, California;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams, served as a member of the Kings River Hotshots prior to moving to Florida to fight fires as a wildland firefighter, then coming to New Mexico as an Engine Captain on the Santa Fe National Forest, Jemez Ranger District, Engine 301;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams assisted in training most of the Jemez Eagles Wildland Firefighting crew, who were eventually the crew that located Captain Adams;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams’ firefighting qualifications include Engine Boss, Engine Operator, Class B Faller, Firefighter 1, Firing Boss Trainee, Helicopter Crew Member, Type 5 Incident Commander, Type 3 Prescribed Burn Boss, and Prescribed Fire Crew Member;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams served our country as a member of the United States Navy;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams died honorably in the service and protection of others;
WHEREAS, Captain Token Adams is survived by his wife, Heidi; son, Tristan; mother, Letake Anderson; brother, Cruze; sister, Kobie; in addition, Heidi is expecting their daughter, Isla; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Laws of the State of New Mexico, do hereby order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise, September 11, 2013 to sundown September 12, 2013, the day Captain Token Adams is laid to rest. The thoughts and prayers of the people of New Mexico go out to his family as well as a heartfelt thank you for his service and sacrifice.
