Corporal Harold A. Evans, born on May 16, 1928, in Linsell Township, Minnesota was reported missing in action on December 12, 1950 while serving in the United States Army in the Korean War. His surviving family has been waiting sixty-tree years for his return and proper memorial.
Corporal Harold A. Evans' remains were recovered from North Korea, along with those of many other service members, in the early 1990s, and identified in September 2013. His internment with full military honors will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetary, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
In honor and remembrance of Corporal Harold A. Evans, Governor Mark Dayton has signed a proclamation ordering all flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in Minnesota from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, October 12, 2013.
