On this page are the standard layout sheets for the bones and teeth from the well preserved burial excavated here. Above are the bones of the arms and legs, and below are some of the bones from the skull and the teeth. This was a neonate so everything was developing very rapidly and the first lesson for our students is how to identify and side all these tiny elements, which are so different from the skeleton and dentition of an adult. We train them with lectures, practical classes, specially prepared manuals and experience with plastic replicas. There is a test! Students put these skills to use straight away on the burials they are working on. Staff help them and check their identifications and for difficult cases there is a library of textbooks as well as reference skeletons.
