End Cap Effects
The longitudinal stress due to pressure is calculated using the end cap condition. It is according to Code design philosophy.
However, the reaction is not considered into all the piping systems except the model with expansion joints. It is because the pressure trust itself is balanced by piping component and the longitudinal pressure strain is negligible small compared with thermal elongation. In case of nozzle load calculation, it may be necessary to take care if it should be included pressure thrust.
