Ingen ville tage ansvaret, da man i 2017 i flere lande
opfangede spor af et stort radioaktivt udslip.
Dette kort blev den 10. november 2017 offentliggjort af INRS,
Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety. Det
viser koncentrationerne af og hvor Ruthenium 106 er blevet
sporet og målt i Rusland og Europa.

Nu har en gruppe forskere offentliggjort et omfattende
analysearbejde, der konkluderer, at det radioaktive udslip
fandt sted omkring den 25. eller 26. september i Rusland. Det
skriver Washington Post.
Ifølge forskere har det radioaktive udslip sandsynligvis fundet
sted på atomanlægget Majak, der blandt andet bliver brugt til
at behandle radioaktivt affald.

In 2003, the plant's operating licence was revoked
temporarily due to liquid radioactive waste handling
procedures resulting in waste being disposed into open
water.[29]
In June 2007, an accident involving a radioactive pulp
occurred over a two-day period.[30]
In October 2007, a valve failure during transport of a
radioactive liquid resulted in spilling of a radioactive
material.[30]
In 2008, a repair worker was injured during a "pneumatic"
incident, involving a quantity of alpha emitter release.
The worker's hand was injured and the wound contaminated,
with the worker's finger amputated in a bid to minimise
further spread of alpha-particle emitters throughout his
body and subsequent radiological consequences.[31]
In September 2017, possible association with the airborne
radioactivity increase in Europe in autumn 2017. [22]
Russia confirms 'extremely high' readings of radioactive
pollution in Argayash, a village in the Chelyabinsk region
of the southern Urals.[32] Argayash is located 10 miles
south of the Mayak reactor. In January 2018, the French
Institute of Radioprotection and Nuclear Security (IRSN)
reported that Mayak could be the cause of the
contamination.[23]. The radioactivity was due to Ru-106
indicating release from a late stage in the reprocessing
(i.e. after the Ru-106 had been separated from other
isotopes) [33].
