But why did they not throw the meteor at exactly time ?

One reason could be, that a big meteor-explosion in daylight from
now on is a alarm-call to Mankind, so they have to wait until at
least twilight.
And it is still okay, because the useing of PI - in a SETI-program - must just NOT be mistaken for the number 3 !
The imprecision is still just :
(3,155541413 / Pi * 100%) - 100 = 0,44 %
