The stars at night, are big and bright, deep in the heart of Tejas! When we lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico it was just a short drive into west Texas. In fact, we lived fairly close to some of the most scenic attractions in the Lone Star State. Guadalupe Mountains National Park was a 45 minute drive and Big Bend National Park, perhaps the most underrated of our US national parks, was about 5 hours south. We really enjoyed getting out and exploring the mountains of west Texas in these two locations, as well as in the Franklin Mountains outside of El Paso.
