Ready Player One Summary

It is year 2044 and the world is faced with an energy crisis due to depletion of fossil fuels and increased global warming. To deal with the issue, the world turns to OASIS. It is a virtual reality game in which players can play using visors and hepatic technology. The game was created by James Halliday who said in his will that he has left an Easter egg in the game. Anyone who finds it will inherit Halliday’s fortune and his corporation. The story follows the journey of the protagonist, Wade Watts who sets on to find this egg after he finds one of the three keys pointing to this egg.

The book is ridiculously fun. Once you pick it up, you cant put it down. You are just obliged to turn the pages by Cline’s amazing writing and storytelling talent. The book became a New York Times Bestseller for this very reason. Any geek would love to have this book is his or her collection. In 2012, the book received an Alex Award from the Young Adult Library Services Association division of the American Library Association and won the 2012 Prometheus Award.
