Lacing Styles 1450s-1550s
This is a research project which looked at the frequency of various styles of lacing seen on women's front-lacing gowns in the 1450s-1550s. While offset spiral lacing is often considered to be the most period choice throughout all of the medieval and renaissance eras, an analysis of paintings shows a variety of potential options for the costumer looking to faithfully recreate lacing options from the period. The paper was written for my Kingdom's A&S Championships and as such the format is very formal. I am currently working on turning this into an article for a wider audience.
