I would recommend Lucy 100% for maths tutoring. My son started with Lucy in year 7 and continued right up until his last maths GCSE exam. When he started he was really struggling with maths; however with Lucy’s help and patience he passed his maths with a grade 5!!

My son lacked confidence in Maths, in a few months Lucy managed to build his confidence and my son achieved a grade higher in his GCSE’s than he was predicted.
Lucy built a good rapport with my son, (I think a common love of football helped ), which meant he never complained about going and always left the session feeling positive and had gained something from the session.
Lucy kept me up to date with his progress and would always do her best to accommodate us if we needed to reschedule a session.

Lucy was recommended to me by a friend when I was looking for a maths tutor for my daughter to give her some extra support in the year leading up to her GCSE’s. This turned out to be the best decision for Ellie and really increased her confidence in time for her exams. Ellie was predicted grade 3/4 in year 10 but today she found out she achieved a grade 5 which means she can now go to her dream college. Year 11
Anna was 16 when she started maths tuition with Lucy. She had recently been diagnosed with dyslexia and although she was in a high set for maths she felt she was struggling. Her scores were consistently low which made her lose confidence. After 9 months of tuition with 1 to 1 support Anna was able to get help with topics she found more difficult. Lucy helped her know what the GCSE questions were asking for and how to apply her knowledge and answer them. Being able to ask Lucy questions she was not confident to ask in class helped her progress very quickly in year 11 with her maths. Lucy is very kind and calm. Anna was able to be open and honest with her about things she was struggling with. Lucy was able to adapt to what Anna needed on a particular day. Lucy would prepare sessions but if Anna had found something difficult in a lesson or test that week, Lucy would go through that with her instead. We didn’t have long with Lucy so she had to quickly learn Anna’s weak areas. Lucy was able to balance what she thought Anna needed to work on based on her experience of tutoring and what Anna thought she needed. The house was quiet and calm and Anna was able to concentrate and stay focussed on what she was doing. Lucy has given Anna confidence in her ability to answer questions and learn what the question is asking for.

Before starting with Lucy Odelia was always at the expected level but would often struggle with the logic of maths. After 15 months of tuition there has been a vast improvement with Odelia and Maths. She's achieving very high scores in maths assessments and moved to the highest level of greater depth standard at school. She scored 110 out of 120 in her SAT's. Odelia says Lucy is amazing, phenomenal and has helped her achieve great standards in maths. Lucy needs to keep doing what she does. An absolute God send. Odelia has no problems with Maths now due to Lucy.

Andrea was in year 4, aged 9( I think!). She had lost confident in her maths ability. This was in the middle of the pandemic and we were homeschooling. She was getting easily frustrated and sometimes a bit upset. By year 6 , age 11 she is much more confident, not worried by problem solving or more complex questions. Ready to tackle questions methodically, not getting worried or stressed. She was ready for her SATs, doing well on practice papers, well into the expected level. Lucy and David are really lovely, knowledgeable, professional and can easily relate to their students. They are encouraging and really want them to succeed. Would recommend no question and already have done.

From the first contact we had with Lucy we can not fault a thing. Communication at the very beginning was great and explained everything really well, she has been extremely reliable. Our Daughter chose to have her lessons online and Lucy is always there at the allocated time. We decided to get a tutor for maths due to our daughter getting a poor mock grade, she was extremely unsure and nervous but Lucy’s been amazing and our daughter really looks forward to her lessons she is actually sad that they are ending soon. Her confidence has grown so much in maths and that is down to Lucy. Sometimes you just need 1 on 1 and we would highly recommend it .

Daniel started his tuition sessions with David and Lucy in 2020, at the start of the first lockdown, age 14. Prior to lockdown, he struggled at school and as parents, we felt he had been failed by his school. Prior to his initial sessions with David and Lucy, his predicted grades were 1/2 for Maths & English. Daniel has been having weekly sessions with both David and Lucy for over 2 years. He is more confident in general and is predicted level 4 in both subjects. In Daniel's words - they are both excellent tutors, who found a way to teach me Maths and English in a way I understand. Daniel is a very shy young person, but he has grown to feel comfortable and confident around David and Lucy. We would highly recommend David and Lucy to friends and family.

Kai was struggling with Maths and English and had not been able to reach a 4 in mock exams. He was feeling overwhelmed with what to focus on and was lacking in confidence. Kai's confidence has greatly improved, his grades in mock exams have improved and he is feeling more focused. He takes more time to think about questions and feels more confident in understanding what he is being asked. David and Lucy were both very approachable and friendly, but were clear and honest about what could be achieved which I really appreciated. Just want to say a big thank you for all you have done, I have noticed a huge difference in Kai's confidence levels. I really appreciate how you have incorporated things he enjoys (football!) to help him understand. Just wish I'd found you both as year earlier!

Lucy is an excellent tutor, she has tutored me as a mature student since October 2020. She is extremely organised, and explains the content very well in a way which suits my understanding. Maths has never been my strong point, but Lucy has given me the confidence to pass my maths exam and enroll onto a teacher training course in September. Lucy is lovely and dedicated, so put the time in and work hard and you'll get wherever you need to be with her support. I highly recommend her!

Lucy and David are a really lovely couple, very welcoming and teach in a lovely environment, my daughter was doing GCSE's and was felt she was struggling, although she took extra classes in school she felt she still wouldn't pass and didn't want to have to resit, we found her mock exams had questions relating to areas that had not been covered in school. We attended Edon & Edon Tuition and she used the sessions as revision, covered new areas and generally boosted her confidence. The sessions were friendly, reasonably priced and accommodated sessions around us, extra sessions could be added as we neared the main exams if required. My daughters grades improved and she passed all her exams, no resits needed so she can continue with her chosen path. Would definitely recommend Lucy and David.

My daughter worked with Lucy on Maths for about 2 months in the run up to her GCSE's. Prior to working with Lucy my daughter was very nervous about her exam, had really been put off by her teacher at school who wasn't being particularly helpful and made her feel as though she should just give up and not bother trying. Lucy was able to give my daughter more enthusiasm for Maths, but most importantly gave her the confidence to think she could do well. Which in the end she did!! We're very happy with the result achieved. Also, Lucy kept in touch with me regularly so I knew how the lessons were going each week. She's very approachable, friendly and clearly cares how her students perform. My daughter really liked working with Lucy and I would not hesitate in recommending her.

Debbie was struggling with maths and due to take her GCSE's within months. We approached a maths tutor but Debbie didn't feel comfortable with her upon meeting- she became very anxious and her grades began dropping. After 10 sessions with Lucy, Debbie is feeling much more confident. She still has a way to go but feels very comfortable with Lucy and her grade has gone from a 4 to a 6. Lucy is friendly, very patient and kind and Debbie feels happy to talk to her. Very professional service in a friendly environment and can not be improved. She's brilliant.

Lisa was preparing for her upcoming GCSE's and recognised the one subject she felt she needed more help with is maths. Lisa has had approx 8 sessions now and has gained in confidence and made a big improvement in her learning. A few more sessions before her GCSE exams and she should achieve her targeted grade 7. Lucy appears knowledgeable in current teaching method/styles and the curriculum. She explains the topics clearly and in a manner Lisa fully understands. I'm glad we made the decision to bring Lisa to Lucy. It has definitely been a good and positive move.
