Danny (16)
GCSE's

Thanks a lot guys for all your help, your influence on Danny was incredible not only education wise as teachers but personal too, the confidence you build in him and your advice was really great and helped him to reach his potential, many thanks guys and hopefully we will see you again to work your magic on his brother too, thanks again.

Danny's comments: Can't thank both tutors enough, was a 3 (D) in English and in the space of 2 months and a half I reached a grade 6 ( B+/ A-) both tutors give the lessons a welcoming environment, and have a very organised structure to each lesson, achieved a 6 in maths, wouldn't recommend any other tutor for both English and maths, couldn't have done it without them. Thank You Guys

Oscar (12)
Year 8

Oscar was diagnosed with verbal dyspraxia at a young age which delayed development in speech, learning and language in general. Oscar was around 18 months behind where he should have been leaving high school in both reading and writing. With David's constant encouragement and tuition, and Oscar's enthusiasm, they have both worked together enabling Oscar to achieve almost 2 grades higher after only a year! His written work has greatly improved and he is now reading more confidently.

Ellen (10)
Year 6 SATS

Ellen was described as just below the expected level for English. We also felt her spelling was often poor and she struggled with extended writing. The main thing we have noticed is Ellen's confidence, attitude to learning and overall happiness: the improvement is immense. Ellen has now adapted a 'can do' attitude and revels in articulating what she has learnt with David. David is incredibly enthusiastic and positive, an approach that has really worked with Ellen. Speaking as a teacher, it is also clear that he understands the amendment procedures for Key Stage 2 and therefore every minute of every lesson is preparing Ellen for success. Ultimately my daughter loves to attend David's lesson and loves learning now!

Leon (14)
Year 10

Before starting with David, Leon hated English and had made no improvement in his grade in his first year at high school. After a year of lessons, Leon has improved his grade, his confidence and more importantly really enjoys it now. David found out what Leon's interests were and incorporated that into the lessons. He now loves coming to his weekly lesson and always comes out buzzing about what he has done that evening.

Henry (10)
Year 5

With Henry, there was an attainment gap that has been apparent since year 2 and has not closed. School seemed unclear how to support him in a way to close this gap so we started lessons with David. At Henry's latest parents evening (February 2016), after about 4 months of tutoring with David, his teacher reported she had seen big improvements and was expecting Henry to meet age related expectations in writing for the first time which is brilliant!

Henry now has a new found love of writing, thoroughly enjoys his lessons and even does a bit of extra writing at home now through choice! David is enthusiastic and obviously enjoys what he does which as a teacher myself I know is vital. He keeps us informed of which areas he is covering and the progress that has been made.

Henry's comments: David is a brilliant teacher who always puts in effort to help me. There's nothing I would change because he always teaches me in a way I understand.

James (8)
Year 4

James has autism and ADHD and struggles in large groups but since starting with David he has really progressed. James is growing in confidence because David is a lovely young man, he is welcoming and puts James at ease. David is firm but fair with our son and has the ability to get the best out of him with rewards and fun at the end of each lesson with games like Silly Sentences. I think David has done a marvellous job so far with James- with his disabilities this is not always an easy task. James loves his lessons and has not once said he doesn't want to go and we look forward to many more years with David.

Gill (10)
Year 5

In year 4 a change in teacher caused a lot of upset to Gill, and it felt like she had received no teaching for at least 6 months. She also suffered with her confidence and didn't believe in herself. David was extremely patient and worked hard to make Gill see how clever she is. When she started she knew none of her timetables, within the first month she had mastered her 3's, 4's and 5's meanwhile in her English David pushed her to her ability and she started doing work that is expected of a year 6.

We find that David sees your child as an individual- he finds out their interests and then uses this to help them learn. She has gained so much confidence and now believes she can do well in school. Gill's only complaint is that he hasn't become a teacher at her school!

Cody (14)
GCSE's

Cody always struggled with English through junior school and it was one of his weaker subjects. After one year of sessions I am extremely pleased with the results, seeing both written and verbal skills increase. His English teacher at school noticed the difference and I have a child who now enjoys the subject and has gained a massive amount of confidence. David is patient, supportive, has a great rapport with both pupil and parent and the students use him as a positive role model.

Dominic (16)
GCSE's

My son had been struggling with English for some time, however we didn't realise how much until he achieved a grade U in his mock examination. Time wasn't on our side as we only had a matter of months to do all we could to ensure he would pass his GCSE. From January to May my son had one lesson per week and we were absolutely delighted when he received his results in August, C in English language and C in English Literature. David is an excellent teacher and after being with David my son had a significantly better attitude to work.

Score: 10/10

Jack (16)
GCSE's

Jack's mock results were an E in English Language as well as a D in literature and he wanted to do Economics A level which required a B grade in his final GCSE. Jack had two hours of tuition per week from January to May. He enjoyed going (this surprised me as he hated English before the sessions) and had a new found likeness for literacy. He received a B in both language and literature and can now do A level economics. Jack related very well to David- this made learning easier for Jack and he obtained the grades he needed. His teachers at school noticed a marked improvement in his work when he was having tuition.

Alex (10)
Year 6 SATS

Alex loves every lessons he attends, goes in wanting to learn and comes out buzzing about what he has accomplished during his time there. I find David as a teacher very approachable, easy to speak with and very informative as to what levels Alex is working at. David is very good at building confidence and is able to come down to the child's level which to me is something all teachers should try to achieve. I would recommend David to anyone- there is nothing he could do better at the moment.

Cameron (17)
GCSE Resit

You really do deserve that champagne David. You've constantly supported Cameron (and us!!) though something that started as a roller coaster of an uphill struggle to someone who has a real confidence in himself AND his ability in a subject that seemed so out of reach. This is completely due to you and your great teaching. Thanks so much again.

Oliver (6)
Year 2

Oliver was falling behind in Math's and English. I am very happy to say that his confidence and his ability to retain what David teaches him has improved greatly. His teachers at school have also commented on his marked improvement and he now feels a sense of achievement in everything he does- he also speaks of making David proud. David was/is exactly what I was looking for. Oliver doesn't seem to think about his lesson as lesson, he genuinely enjoys spending Saturday mornings at David's as he now really wants to improve himself! Wow!!!

Ellie (7)
Year 3

Hi David, just wanted to update you on Ellie's parent evening tonight. Her teacher is over the moon and can not believe her improvement since Christmas.

Reading - her confidence is evident and is reading on sight rather than how she had to do previously breaking the words down
Maths - again her confidence is excellent, she is on the Platinum award for times table which is the highest award you can get and she no longer looks defeated when presented with a sum, she has the 'have a go' attitude that was lacking before Christmas

We discussed her time with you and her teacher said that she has had students before that have received tutoring but hasn't worked - she said this is not the case with Ellie. She went on to say that many times when they have started working things out, Ellie will say 'David has already shown me'. Her teacher said it was great that the same methods are being used as she said most other tutors don't follow same methods which can make it hard back in the classroom. Just wanted to say a massive thank you - in 3 short months we have seen the improvements and now it has been backed up by her teacher. Thank you for all you do.

Christine (10)
Year 6 SATS

We came to David as were concerned that our daughter, who was due to sit her year six SATS, was not going to reach her full potential due to the level of teaching at her school- she was heading for Level 4's. Due to the extra tuition in both Maths and English our daughter is expected to gain level 5's in all subjects and is sitting sitting level 6 papers in both Maths and Grammar. My daughter has found David to be a good teacher, enthusiastic and explains things in ways that are simple to understand. There isn't anything he could improve upon.

Chris (13)
Year 9

Only a few sessions in and I can see the difference already. Back reading regularly and starting to enjoy English more. David is great with my son and creates a good honest interaction, interested in him and what makes him tick. I particularly like the fact the first session was to understand my son as an individual, strengths and what needed to be worked on. Good parental engagement, wanting to know my expectations and thoughts. Really pleased and confident the next parents evening will evidence the improvement. Well worth it.

Theo (15)
GCSE's

Before Theo started with David he was struggling with confidence in English- this had been an issue from his early years at school. He has since been diagnosed with dyslexia and his predicted grade at GCSE was a C. After just over a year now, Theo achieved a grade A in his mock exam which is something he didn't think he was capable of. David is patient, understands that English is not Theo's favourite subject and has tailored his teaching accordingly to suit him. I would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

Score: 10/10

Mark (15)
GCSE's

Mark had just started year 10 when he was predicted a Grade B for his GCSE's and we wanted to ensure he achieved his full potential. David almost immediately identified that with extra effort Mark should be capable of setting his sights on an A*. This was confirmed when Mark achieved an A* in his English Mock examination after roughly 7 months worth of one hour per week lessons. David is patient, relevant and engaging in his tutoring style and I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

Score: 10/10

Victoria (16)
GCSE's

Victoria's predicted grades were “C” in both English Language and Literature. When she took her exams in May 2014 she received a “B” in English language and “A” in English literature. David was very interactive and made sure his style fitted with her way of learning. Victoria felt there was nothing more that David could bring to the lessons, from a parents point of view I felt very comfortable with how David taught Victoria and communicated with me.

Dennis (9)
Year 5

Although our son was doing well in English we felt that he needed a proper grounding in English skills. Since starting lessons with David Edon our son has become a lot more confident with all aspects of English work. David is an excellent teacher who adapts the lesson to each individual pupil's levels. He listens and encourages my son to achieve his full potential.

Chloe (12)
Year 7

Got to say a massive thank you to David Edon. Such a wonderful guy, and one of the best teachers I've met. A true Angel. Finally got the recognition from school that my daughter needs for Dyslexia with help from David. Just simply the acknowledgement from him about this issue pushed her case to be reviewed after 7 years of getting no help. — feeling thankful.

Beth (18)
A Level's

Before I started with David I struggled with exam technique, was working at a C grade and struggled with quantity of writing. After 5 months of lessons I wrote twice as much in each exam and managed to obtain an A grade (3 marks off an A*) which was the highest mark in my whole year group! David was kind, supportive, patient and gave me confidence in my ability.

Score: 10/10

James (16)
GCSE's

After 6 months/24 hours worth of lessons James (starting from a D) achieved a level C in both English Language and Literature. Total success! David’s teaching is very structured and methodical and he gained a great deal of respect from James in the relatively short time he was teaching him. David is a trusted pair of hands and I would recommend him to family & friends. In fact, I have recommended him already!

Score: 10/10

Matthew (15)
GCSE's

Matthew's predicted grade prior to seeing David was a D. He has just completed his mock GCSE exam and the result was an A and this happened after roughly just ten one hour lessons. David Edon is an excellent teacher due to his original techniques in teaching.

Score: 10/10

Claire (13)
Year 9

At the time of submitting this feedback Claire has had 10 hours worth of lessons and she has recently been graded a 5B at school (up from a level 4C). David makes the lessons so interesting that the hour goes really fast. She feels that she learns more in one hour with David than a whole week of English lessons at school.

Score: 10/10

Helen (11)
Year 6 SATS

After a few sessions with David:

Helen's confidence in her own abilities has increased
Helen now has a better grasp of how to improve her written work so that the results are 'outstanding' rather than just 'good'
I would describe David as an outstanding teacher. His creative reward system and kind nature contribute a lot towards encouraging Helen to work hard in both English and Maths.

Score: 10/10

Chantelle (11)
Year 6 SATS

Chantelle has been having lessons with David for over 6 months and have seen a massive improvement in her reading, writing, spelling and Maths skills. She is now reading harder level books on her own and has raised her score significantly on her mock SATS papers. Her confidence in her own abilities in classroom work has grown- she now attempts to answer questions in class here previously she would not. David makes sure that the lessons are engaging, motivating and rewarding for the students.

Score: 10/10

Frankie (7)
Year 2

Frankie had attended another tutoring service for 7 months and hadn't made any progress. We were really concerned as he could not read- that's when David changed it all. After just three sessions Frankie had made a marked improment and showed the start of what would become a full reading ability. He shows an interest in Frankie's passions and uses this to help him learn.

Score: 10/10

Matthew (16)
GCSE's

Before I started with David I had achieved a D grade in my English GCSE and had struggled with dyslexia through senior school. Thankfully working together I was able to achieve a C grade this time round. He was willing to modify and use different methods of teaching because I had a very specific way of learning.

Score: 10/10

Emily (20)
QTS (Qualified Teaching Exams)

Before I started with David I had failed my English QTS test twice. I struggled with dyslexia and struggled to punctuate sentences. I had one last chance to take the test and after my last lesson I passed. He put lessons into a simple and easy to understand format.
