Coping with Anxiety During COVID-19

Recent KFF research has found a quarter of older adults reported anxiety or depression amid the Coronavirus Pandemic. EACH is on the front lines in mitigating the social determinants of health among residents who are most in need during the pandemic period held a series of Mental Health Forums - Coping with anxiety during COVID-19 via online and in-person meetings.

EACH Offers Free Online EZ Virtual Prevention and Wellness Program During Covid-19

In alignment with the social distancing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, EACH launched the EZ Virtual Prevention and Wellness program in the Chinese language to give adults across the MA free access to the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program and Mental Health classes geared for their age group. In addition, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic onset, EACH’s Prevention and Wellness Programs were offered to help those who usually participate in its health and wellness programs in local community centers.

Stay Active During the COVID-19 Quarantine

In response to the COVID-19 emergency executive order requiring all businesses and organizations in Massachusetts that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers, and the public, a team of 7 volunteers affiliated with EACH volunteering for the South Shore YMCA to reach out to its Chinese speaking members via phone chats to keep them active by encouraging them to log onto YMCA app and trying out some of their challenges. The app is a great tool loaded with workouts to keep members healthy.

EACH Receives Community Grant from SSES

On January 23, 2020, Enhance Asian Community on Health received additional funding from the South Shore Elder Services (SSES). The SSES Community grant under Title III D funds will fund EACH’s Mental Health Awareness for Asian Seniors project from October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020 which aims to support healthy lifestyles and promote healthy behaviors for low income Asian senior populations in Braintree, Weymouth, Randolph, Quincy, Hull, and Milton.

First Year BU Medical Students Listen to Panelists from Dana-Faber Cancel Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital , Boston Medical Center and EACH

The Executive Director of EACH, Sara Tan, participated in a panel discussion at Boston University (BU) School of Medicine on November 11, 2019. BU's Creating Leadership and Education to Address Racism (CLEAR) session featured panelists from established health professional institutes/medical schools and community-based organizations. The panel discussions brought insights and perspectives from the panelists on bridging the gap between healthcare institutes and the community they serve. We specifically discuss racial disparities that affect health outcomes and how medical students can learn to provide better care for patients of color.

EACH’s 5th Year Anniversary Celebration

“We would like to thank everyone who attended our 5th Year Anniversary Event on Oct. 26 and made it a huge success!” Board of Directors

EACH celebrated its 5th anniversary at China Pearl, Quincy, on October 26, 2019 with over 150 guests and dignitaries in attendance. The lion dance heralded the anniversary celebration, featuring inauguration speeches by invited dignitaries, a reflection of the company’s legacy work on the Prevention and Wellness program for the community, a community appreciation lunch, and a presentation of various Chinese musical and dance performances.

EACH Receives a Multiyear Community Health Grant (2019 to 2022) from BID-Milton

Enhance Asian Community on Health, Inc. (EACH) is pleased to announce that it has received a multiyear community health grant (2019 to 2022) from the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton), a regional community hospital located in Milton, Massachusetts providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient healthcare services. These funds will support EACH in developing and implementing a Chronic Disease Management Program and promoting health and wellness that targets disparities and risk factors of concern to Asian Americans. We are extremely grateful to the BID-Milton for their generosity and support of our mission.

Prevention and Wellness Programs for Castle Square Tenants Organization

In collaboration with Castle Square Tenants Organization at 476 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02116, EACH will provide a series of Prevention and Wellness Programs to their residents, beginning of Q2 to end of Q3 2019. EACH’s overall program objective is to educate their residents regarding various disease states prevalent among Asian Americans, disease state prevention, and information regarding government health plans and benefits programs.
