JOANA ALMEIDA

Joana Almeida is a young early career researcher whose main fields of interest are Medicinal Chemistry and Oncobiology. She obtained her Bachelor's in Biology at FCUP in 2017, and in 2019 she obtained her Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at FFUP. Throughout her academic courses, she developed skills in Cellular and Molecular Biology, as well as in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry. The work developed for her Master dissertation received the Portuguese award for "Best Master Thesis in Medicinal Chemistry 2019" by the Portuguese Chemical Society.

Currently, she is a PhD student at LAQV/REQUIMTE/FFUP aiming at the discovery of new therapies targeting the p53 pathway in neuroblastoma under the supervision of Prof. Lucília Saraiva, Prof. Emília Sousa and Prof. Honorina Cidade (FFUP).
