Implementation of the MPC Scheme for Dexter’s Fuzzy Logic Control Architecture

Process Control is used extensively in industry and the requirements of process industry is increasing gradually, as optimal production rate with assurance of quality is required. Implementation of a control structure for disturbance rejection is a vital field of research. There are many control strategies which show good control performance when additive type input disturbance is added in the plant. While for a nonlinear plant with multiplicative input disturbances, very few control approaches have been formulated yet. Dexter control structure is based on designing an adaptive-direct-fuzzy control (ADFC) for applications which involved multiplicative type input disturbance. The Dexter’s ADFC design approach successfully counter the multiplicative type input disturbance but constraints in the controlled variables and control signal has not been addressed. In order to cater for these constraints, Sousa’s architecture offers an optimized scheme to deal with disturbance rejection in the presence of constraints. Souse scheme is the combination of predictive and inverse model control.
