"I firmly believe that our past informs our present and future--and memory is what links generations together. Through remembrance, we honor those whose sacrifices, large and small, helped change the course of history. My uncle, Walter Glod, was one of those men--and, in her own way, so was my sister Connie. Their deaths had a profound effect on my late mother, Agnes Glod Lindauer, and she shared her memories of them with me. Their lives in turn affected my own; I wish I had known both of them, but I am glad I am at least able to honor them all in a small way." Jeanne Lindauer Hartig
