Hockaday

Neuroscience Club

The Hockaday Neuroscience Club was founded in October 2012 by Heather Xiao. In eighth grade, after taking a neuroscience elective course with current club sponsor Dr. Katie Croft, Heather was intrigued by how interesting yet complicated the brain is, and how there are so many unanswered questions.

We study the brain, discuss current neurological research advancements, and brain disease.

Our Club's sponsor, Dr. Katie Croft, is the Coordinator of the DFW Regional Brain Bee. The DFW Regional Brain Bee has hosted six annual DFW Brain Bee competitions in January of 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Registration is always free and open to all high school students.

For more information, there is a free ebook, Brain Facts (link here: http://www.brainfacts.org/book) which students may use to study (please note: participants should study the updated 2018 version of the book!), and there are other resources available online here: http://www.dental.umaryland.edu/brainbee/for-the-competitor/

If you are interested in participating in the Brain Bee, please contact us at dfwbrainbee@gmail.com!
