The 2016 Hockaday DFW Brain Bee was a big success! With twelve competitors from four local schools, we had the following top 3:
1st place: Christine Ji, The Hockaday School
2nd place: Sachit Menon, Texas Academy of Math and Science
3rd place: Claire Marucci, The Hockaday School
This will be the second year that Christine will advance to the National Brain Bee Competition. Congratulations, Christine!
I have a huge group of people to thank:
Thank you so much to Dr. Croft, our awesome Neuroscience Club sponsor and Brain Bee coordinator. Thank you to our wonderful judge, Dr. Haley Speed, a neurologist from UT Southwestern. Thank you to the Neuroscience Club VPs, Cristina Chavez and Suzette Kane, and the Neuroscience Club officers for your hard work and helping hands. Thank you to Dr. Fishel and the science department for your support and encouragement. Thank you to the Hockaday School and Student Council for the funding. And last but definitely not least, thank you to all of the participants and Neuroscience club members-- we couldn't have done it without you all!
As Cristina, Suzette, and I graduate, we will be passing down the Brain Bee and neuroscience club to our very capable, dedicated underclassmen club officers. Wishing you guys a fabulous Brain Bee 2017!
