THANK YOU to Dr. Katie Croft and The Hockaday Neuroscience Club for establishing and hosting the annual DFW Brain Bee for a decade!

Dr. Croft has entrusted the DFW Brain Bee to Dr. Amy Zwierzchowski-Zarate and the UT Dallas Brain Bee student organization for the 2026 DFW Brain Bee and beyond. We are thrilled for this opportunity and look forward to working with Dr. Croft to transition and grow the Bee!

The 2026 DFW Brain Bee will be held on the campus of UT Dallas.

Registration is always free and open to all high school students.

Hockaday Science Department on Instagram: "The 10th annual DFW Regional Brain Bee competition was held on Sunday, February 25th in Clements Hall of the Margaret Doggett Crow Science Building at The Hockaday School. Coordinated by Upper School Science faculty member and neuroscientist Dr. Katie Croft, the competition tested students’ knowledge of the human brain, including topics such as: memory, language, vision, movement, sensations, neuroanatomy, and diseases of the central nervous system. Thirty-eight students participated from 22 different local high schools! Anne Freelin from Drs. Genevieve Konopka’s and Brad Lega’s lab at UTSW served as the judge, and Hockaday Neuroscience Club members Anisha Sharma ‘24, Kaelyn Lee ‘24, Naomi Odogwu ‘26, and Sudha Kodem ‘27 helped host the event. Form IV students Laya Ragunathan and Tyler Kinkema competed in the last, most difficult round of the competition.
