How to Login
Blackboard can be accessed via the DelVal App Hub or directly at http://delval.blackboard.com. Note that if accessing through the mobile app or directly, be sure the sign in setting is set to single sign on 'DVU-SSO':
How to Navigate
Once logged in, you have direct access to your courses. Courses are organized by the term's start and end dates. If your courses do not immediately appear on the landing page, click 'Upcoming Courses' if they are starting soon or use the drop-down under 'Current Courses' to select a prior term. Course sites not organized by date or term, or those requiring self-enrollment are available under Course Catalog:
To access a course site, simply click on its name. Please be sure to note that course sites do not typically become available to students until the first day and that access is removed 14 days after the course ends. You may see courses listed but you may not be able to access them for content if it outside that time frame.
You can view the Courses page as a list of a grid as you move between past, current and upcoming courses. If you access a course more frequently than others, you can select the star icon to add it to your favorites so it appears at the top of the list. Likewise, if you don't want a course to appear in immediate view, you can hide it (then appears only when using the filter to show hidden courses).
For additional details on how to navigate the main landing, see Courses Page. For reference on other main menu options, see Ultra Base Navigation.
From a student perspective, Blackboard is a rather straightforward point-and-click system that does not require formal training to use. However, we have designed an online student orientation that will help to quickly familiarize new users. This orientation is a self-paced tour of Blackboard which includes several hands-on activities. Upon completion of the "try it" activities, you have an opportunity to print a certificate of completion to provide to your instructor (if asked).
To enroll in the 20-minute, self-paced orientation:
Access Blackboard
Click on Institution Page
Click on NEW TO BLACKBOARD?... under Quick Links
On the following page, click on the text/link 'click here to enroll'
Click +Enroll (if you receive an 'access denied message, click green +Enroll button on the side margin).
Special Note: If you receive an 'Access Denied' security message, click on the green +Enroll button on the left side margin. Access will be immediately granted. If your web browser does not refresh automatically, return to your Courses list and look for 'Bb101s: Blackboard Orientation'.
