From a student perspective, Blackboard is a rather straightforward point-and-click system that does not require formal training to use. However, we have designed an online new user orientation that will help to quickly familiarize all with the system. This orientation is a self-paced tour of Blackboard which includes several hands-on activities. Upon completion of the "try it" activities, students have an opportunity to print a certificate of completion to provide to their instructor (if asked).
To enroll in the 20-minute, self-paced orientation:
Access Blackboard
Click on Institution Page
Click on NEW TO BLACKBOARD?... under Quick Links
On the following page, click on the text/link 'click here to enroll'
Click +Enroll (if you receive an 'access denied message, click on the green +Enroll button in the left menu).
Special Note: Note that the enrollment page appears to be an error page, but it's simply telling you that you need enroll. You need to self-enroll. To get access, click on the text link or green +Enroll button to enroll.
Again, if you receive an 'Access Denied' security message, click on the green +Enroll button on the left side margin. Access will be immediately granted. If your web browser does not refresh automatically, return to your Courses list and look for 'Bb101s: Blackboard Orientation'.
