This lab will go in your lab book. Follow the directions below to complete the lab.
Purpose (put in the lab book)
The purpose of this lab is to examine various household items to determine the substance, bond type, and properties.
Procedure (read - don't put in the lab book)
Your lab table will have a card with a list of products.
You can find these products in the back of the room. Go back and grab only ONE of them at a time and bring it back to your table.
Examine the product label to determine the main substance or active ingredient in the product.
Copy the data table below into your lab book.
Complete the data table.
Only put ONE product per page in your lab book.
DO NOT use the internet to look anything up.
BE NEAT AND ORGANIZED!
Academic Students - Bring me your lab book to check each data table to make sure it is correct before you move on.
Honors Students - As you get done each of the first set, bring them to the front to check them before you move on. The second set of four you will not be able to check with me, they will be graded when you hand in your lab book.
One of the products contains ethyl alcohol. We have not learned the formula for this type of naming. The formula is C2H6O.
When thinking about the phase of the active ingredient in the toothpaste, it has been dissolved in the water in the paste.
