Also needed are paper shopping bags.
This Sunday, before or after worship, please stop by our grocery cart, located in the back of the sanctuary, and purchase something to put in our food cupboard outside. We stock the cupboard twice a week. It is usually empty within 24 hours. Any donation is helpful. Thanks for your generosity.
Thank you to the B&G and our generous donors for this wonderful addition to the Deerhurst courtyard. Both newly installed benches will be dedicated this Sunday, November 16th following worship. Dress weather appropriate and come to the courtyard for a brief dedication following the benediction and postlude.
Take out or home delivery - A full turkey dinner with all the traditional sides will be prepared and packaged on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 27th. Delivery will be between 11 am and 1 pm. For those who are able, meals can be picked up between noon and 1 pm at the Parkside Village Community Center, 169 Sheridan Parkside Dr, Door 6 in the south parking lot.
Meals are free and available to residents in need in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore. For home delivery or to sign up for pick up, please call Ken-Ton Meals On Wheels at 716-874-3595 before Nov 21st.

Thanksgiving Gift Card Collection - Again this year, we will be supporting Lindbergh Elementary School’s food drive. Students at the school donate non-perishable food items. With the money you so graciously donate we provide gift cards from Aldi’s so families can get perishable items for their Thanksgiving dinner. Please use your pew envelope and mark the envelope Aldi’s gift card. To give online CLICK HERE and select “Lindbergh Families” from the dropdown list. All donations must be received by 11/23.
Blessings in a Backpack - Members of Deerhurst are gathering once a week to fill backpacks so children don’t go hungry over the weekend. On Wednesdays from 1:30-3:00, we will meet at Kenmore United Methodist to fill the backpacks. Please see Chris Zimmer if you can help. Our goal is to have 10 volunteers to do one Wednesday each month in 2026.
Peace and Global Witness Offering - In the month of October, Deerhurst joined other PCUSA congregations participating in this offering. Our local share will go to the Niagara Falls Underground Heritage Museum. Thank you for your generosity.

Please know that a number of our members have mobility issues but do not have handicap tags. So consider counting your blessings, and your steps, and park on the street instead. On Sundays, the town does allow parking on both sides of Colvin Blvd.
The Worship Committee will be decorating the sanctuary during Advent with Poinsettias. If you would like to purchase a plant, please put $10.00 in an envelope marked “flowers” (found on the back table) and place it in the offering plate by Wednesday, December 3rd. Wednesday Bible Study - Led by Donna Sleap - Wednesday morings at 10:30 in the library. The topic is Advent. Sessions are in person, on Zoom, and recorded. See Donna for more information.
New Testament Bible Study with Peggy Brown. Taking a break until the spring.
Book Discussion on "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson. If you'd like a longer discussion after the Women's Retreat, or are unable to make the retreat, please join us November 7th and 14th. We will meet for a potluck dinner at 6 pm and discuss the book after.
Tour of the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center - Saturday Nov. 15th. The price of tickets is $10 per person and needs to be paid by to Kirsten Helm Oct. 31st. The tour begins at 10:30 and will last 90 minutes. We will meet at the Heritage Center at 10, and have lunch after at SoulFood4Real. Those wishing to carpool can meet at church at 9:30.

Women's Dinner - Third Wednesday of the month at Family Tree Restaurant.

Bottle and Can Drive – We are collecting returnable bottles and cans. There will be a basket in the back of the sanctuary (Sunday mornings only) for your donations.
Youth Group will meet on the third Sunday of each month after church.
Next one is November 16th.
Sunday School – K to 5th grade meets weekly during the worship service. 6th to 12th grade will meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
Christmas VBS – December 13th - 9 am to noon - more details to follow

Elizabeth circle uses the proceeds from collecting the receipts to help fund Youth ministries within the church. Many Deerhurst high school seniors have benefitted from this collection. It's the primary source of income for the Scholarship Fund. If you have any questions, contact Karen Friend or the church office.
