Deacon’s Giving Box

• Theme for the giving box is Thanksgiving Sides!

     Some suggestions are cranberry sauce, stuffing mix and canned corn.

•  Always needed are Ziploc bags, gallon, quart, and sandwich sized.

• Also needed are paper shopping bags.

Mission Outreach and Giving

• Blessings in a Backpack - We’re collecting 4 specific items for the backpacks. Ritz "fresh stacks" crackers, pull top cans of chicken noodle soup, 0.92 oz. meat sticks, and small boxes of cereal. All items may be placed in the giving box. We'll be collecting items through the end of November.

• Prayers for the Polls - There are 3 churches that will hold a vigil on Monday, November 2nd at 6:30. St. Joe's University RC Church, North Presbyterian Church and St. James UCC Church.

• Thanksgiving Opportunity - Again this year we will support Lindbergh School with their Thanksgiving Basket drive. We will purchase gift cards from Aldi’s so families can buy fresh fruits and vegetables for their holiday dinner. Please put any donation in the offering using a pew envelope marked- Lindbergh gift cards. To donate online CLICK HERE and select "Give to Lindbergh Families"

• A Little Christmas Reading to Benefit the Mission Fund

Celebrate the magic of the holiday season with "Small Gifts", by Shannon Patch. It's a collection of Christmas short stories about kindness, connection, and the little moments that make a big difference. The book launches November 7th on Amazon, and proceeds will benefit the Deerhurst Presbyterian Mission Fund, helping extend the spirit of giving beyond the holiday season. Shannon will be in the back of the sanctuary with print copies on November 8th. Also available for Kindle.

• Give securely online - CLICK HERE, enter an amount and select what you’re giving to from the dropdown list. If you don’t see what you want, select 2026 Nonpledge. When you click Continue you can enter what you want in the Comments section.

News from Adult Christian Education

• Women’s Bible Study with Donna Sleap, on break, will resume December 2nd.

• New Testament Study with Peggy Brown, Wednesdays at 7 pm in the library.

• Book Discussion/Potluck - How We Learn to Be Brave, by Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, November 6th and 13th at 6 pm.

• Multi-Generational Event - Buffalo United for Peace Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner; November 17th 6:00pm at Niawanda Park Pavilion. Please RSVP by November 12 on the ACE bulletin Board.

• Multi-Generational Advent Event/Potluck - December 5th from 11 am to 1 pm in Memorial Hall. Costs range between $4 and $24 depending on the materials you need. Sign-up sheet on the ACE bulletin board

• Women’s Dinner - Third Wednesday of the month at Family Tree Restaurant. Next one is November 18th at 5 pm.

• Men’s Breakfast - Third Sunday of the month at Deerhurst. Next one is November 15th at 8 am (before worship).

News from Youth and Children's Ministries

• The Nursery - Our nursery is open on Sunday mornings.

• Sunday School - meets weekly on Sunday mornings during worship.

• Youth Group - The next youth event is a lock-in at North Presbyterian in Williamsville from November 14th at 7:30pm to November 15th at 8:30am (with worship at 10:15, if interested) 

• Bottle and Can Drive – We're collecting returnable bottles and cans. There will be a basket in the back of the sanctuary (Sunday mornings only) for your donations. We ask that you please:

  • rinse your bottles/cans

  • put bottles/cans in a clean bag

  • do not put garbage in the bottle/can bag

  • do not smash cans (we cannot get money back for those)

Bake sale on Election Day November 3rd. 

Since it's open to the public, Health Department guidelines say we have to bake everything at church. So, there will be baking parties on the following dates and times.

November 1st, 12pm to 5pm - November 2nd, 4:30pm - 8:30pm - November 3rd all day.

If you want to bake and these times don't work for you, please talk to Catherine White or Joya Palermo and we will see how we can accommodate your schedule.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner - Take out or home delivery

A full turkey dinner with all the traditional sides will be prepared and packaged on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26th. Delivery will be between 11 am and 1 pm. 

For those who are able, meals can be picked up between noon and 1 pm at the Parkside Village Community Center, 169 Sheridan Parkside Dr, Door 6 in the south parking lot.

Meals are free and available to residents in need in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore. For home delivery or to sign up for pick up, please call Ken-Ton Meals On Wheels at 716-874-3595 before Nov 20th.

Church Calendar

You can see all the events, programs, meetings, and everything that’s going on at Deerhurst by visiting our Church Calendar. There are two ways to view the calendar.

• Visit our website at www.deerhurstchurch.org and look for Church Calendar near the top right of the page. If you don’t see it click on More and select it from the list.

• Sign in to Breeze and go to Events. The calendar for the current month will open. In the column to the left of the calendar, you’ll see a list showing what the different colors mean. You’ll see some of them have check marks next to them. If there’s a check mark, you’ll see it on the calendar. If it’s unchecked it won’t appear on the calendar. You can check or uncheck each one. Try it and see.

Don’t forget to bring in [or send in] your Dash's register receipts

Elizabeth circle uses the proceeds from collecting the receipts to help fund youth ministries within the church.  Many Deerhurst high school seniors have benefited from this collection. It's the primary source of income for the Scholarship Fund.  If you have any questions, contact Karen Friend or the church office.
