Deacon’s Giving Box

• Theme for the giving box is Winter Clothing!

     Some suggestions are scarves, hats, boots and jackets.

•  Always needed are Ziploc bags, gallon, quart, and sandwich sized.

• Also needed are paper shopping bags.

Mission Outreach and Giving

• Christmas Giving Tree - The tags have all been taken. Please wrap and place the tag on your gift. All gifts need to be placed under the tree by Sunday, December 14th.

• Christmas Giving Catalog - This catalog has items to purchase that will benefit people all over the world. Order forms available in the narhtex or CLICK HERE to order online.

• PC-USA Christmas Joy Offering will be taken the Sunday Before Christmas. It benefits retired Presbyterian ministers and office staff facing finacial difficulties. To give online CLICK HERE and select "Christmas Offering" from the dropdown list.

• Second Friday at Westminster Church - Friday, December 12th (6:00-8:00 PM). Marcus Deveso and David Johnson will lead an interactive presentation to help us gain a deeper understanding of DEI.  Details are posted on the Mission/Outreach bulletin board.

• WFF Meeting - Our next meeting is Saturday, December 13th from noon until 1:00 PM at Chris Zimmer’s house.

• Blessings in a Backpack - There will be an organizational meeting on Sunday, December 14th after church in the library. All are invited to learn more about this endeavor.

• Give securely online - CLICK HERE, enter an amount and select what you’re giving to from the dropdown list. If you don’t see what you want, select 2025 Nonpledge. When you click Continue you can enter what you want in the Comments section.

Sugar and Jazz Youth Orchestra

This youth band rehearses here at Deerhurst on Sunday nights. Come and enjoy their premier performance on Sunday December 14th. The concert will start at 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall with a Christmas cookie reception to follow afterwards.

Blue Christmas

Tuesday, December 16th, 7 pm at Church of the Nativity. This service is especially for those who find the holidays difficult or need a space to grieve during this season. Join Rev. Micah, Rev. Karen and many community church leaders (including our own Stephen Palermo) as we reflect, pray and sing together.

Volunteers Needed

We need a few more head ushers to fill in once in a while on Sundays. The head usher does things like unlock the entrance doors, turn on lights and get things ready for the Sunday service. Then turn off lights and lock up afterwards. If you are able to help, even if it’s only once or twice a year, see Nancy Fleischauer or contact the church office.

• Wednesday Bible Study - Led by Donna Sleap - Wednesday morings at 10:30 in the library. The topic is Advent. Sessions are in person, on Zoom, and recorded. See Donna for more information.

• New Testament Bible Study with Peggy Brown. Taking a break until the spring.

• Men's Breakfast - On pause until January. 

Next one is at Deerhurst, January 18th at 8 am (before worship).

• Women's Dinner - Third Wednesday of the month at Family Tree Restaurant.

Next one - Wednesday January 21st at 5 pm.

• Three Kings Day - January 3rd at 10:00 in the kitchen. Join us as Rockii Sheperd teaches us to make pastelillos (Puerto Rican pastry) and about Three Kings Day.

Family Christmas Caroling - Sunday, December 21st 

Meet in the church basement at 3 pm and we’ll figure out carpooling. We'll drive to sing carols to some of our shut-ins. We may be outside so dress for the weather. We'll then head back to church for a crockpot potluck supper (soups/chili/etc.)

News from YCMC

• Bottle and Can Drive – We are collecting returnable bottles and cans. There will be a basket in the back of the sanctuary (Sunday mornings only) for your donations.

• Youth Group will meet on the third Sunday of each month after church. 

Next one is November 16th.

• Sunday School – K to 5th grade meets weekly during the worship service. 6th to 12th grade will meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

• Christmas Pageant–- December 21st - more details to follow

Don’t forget to bring in [or send in] your Dash's register receipts

Elizabeth circle uses the proceeds from collecting the receipts to help fund Youth ministries within the church.  Many Deerhurst high school seniors have benefitted from this collection. It's the primary source of income for the Scholarship Fund.  If you have any questions, contact Karen Friend or the church office.
