Deacons

The Deacons overarching purpose is to care for the Deerhurst congregation with compassion, dignity, and empathy. Along with the pastor the Deacons visit and maintain a connection with our homebound members. We are their life line to the church.

We correspond with students in college and people serving in the military.

We support families in crisis with meals and prayers. It is our responsibility to host receptions following a funeral service if requested by the family.

Each Sunday after worship, the Deacons host a weekly coffee hour giving everyone the opportunity of connect in conversation with one another. In addition, we coordinate several gatherings throughout the year. These are the Spring Brunch, Summer Church Picnic, and the Fall Rally Day Luncheon.

With assistance from our congregation, we keep the church's outdoor food pantry well-stocked with non-perishable food items available to our neighborhood community.
