Vocal Pitches (Team Singing)
For some songs (like Zettai IDOL☆Sengen) in team singing, each host girl has their own vocal pitch (high or low key designated by an up or down arrow). When selecting that particular karaoke song from the "Position setting" designation selection (covered in the "Member Designation" section below), an additional dialog box will display (see following image) noting that the host girls for this song have varying vocal pitches and asks if you want them to sing together:
Selecting "はい; Yes" or "いいえ; No" will bring up the following choices (they work differently for each):
If you selected "Yes", all the host girls will sing together in their respective pitches. If the "High Key" option is selected, that pitch will be emphasized while the "Low Key" option will emphasize the lower pitch. Depending on host girl selections (for those songs that have individual vocal keys) and their individual sobriety state, those songs may have a very different sound (that may or may not sound good when it comes to their harmonizing.)
If "No" was selected, the "High Key" option will only have those host girls singing (while the low pitch girls won't be singing") and vice versa for the "Low Key" option. The following video goes through each of these 4 different options to show the effect on a song (in this example, I use Zettai IDOL☆Sengen). Only Riho is "High Key" and also set to tipsy while Mian, Nao, and Nonono are "Low Key" and all in a sober state. This does allow for a wide array of experimentation with different combinations for those songs that have individual vocal pitches.
The "Center Designation" button only allows changing the center singer (position #1).
Pressing the Triangle button brings the Song menu where you can toggle between single member and team singing. For single member singing, position #1 is the same as being the lead solo singer. For team singing, the center position is mainly for the camera and effects (if enabled in options).
The "Position Setting" button which unlocks when purchasing each characters designation rights DLC (¥100 each) or the Designation Rights DLC (¥1000 for all 14 characters) allows for more customization.
Host girls can be placed in any numbered position, removed using the square button, and have their sobriety state set (sober or tipsy) using R1. The triangle button brings up the same Song Menu (as shown above in the previous section) where you can set the positioning for each song (in both single member and team singing). The options button basically serves two different purposes. Pressing that brings up a screen that shows 7 different "presets" that can be used quickly for rapid automatic substitution of positions (image below).
Six options at their defaults also serve another purpose though; the girls are ordered in positions depending on their height (shortest to tallest and vice versa), birthdate (ascending and descending), bust size (small to large and vice versa). This is basically from their full profiles that are unlocked in the Dream C Club games. The default (first button) will arrange all members in their default arrangements. You can make whatever changes you want as this will be used for that karaoke session. But the next time you re-enter these presets, it will always reset the girls to their default ordering for that button (sobriety state remains as set).
The Options menu is straightforward. Music and individual host girl microphone volumes can be set. Effect turns off/on special effects (confetti, stars, butterflies, fog), Song Lyrics can be enabled/disabled, and the Camera Type set to stream (ストリーム), random (ランドム), or free run (フリーラン). Random will cycle through camera angles, stream has a stationary camera position, and free run allows full use of the controller to move the camera freely (using L2 also allows using the six-axis control to tilt the stage.) Default resets options to their defaults and decision saves your settings.
