This trio, for clarinet, bassoon, and harp, was written for the 2010 MCCF 10th Anniversary concert, Oct 24, at Hidden Valley Music Seminars, Carmel Valley. The title was inspired by walks in the rich green forests of southern Alaska in summertime. The rhythms are based on the Fibonacci sequence (similarly to those layered rhythms in the Canon of my Fibonacci Suite). The theme came to me while I was driving; it gets stretched and reversed in various overlapping ways.
from the program notes:
Green Glow combines very simple melodic materials with a complex time structure in five short sections. The short melody for winds repeats, and at the midpoint, also reverses. The harp melody follows a structure based on layered rhythms using Fibonacci numbers, repeating portions forward or backward. The title was inspired by the lush forests of Southeast Alaska.

This piece was rescored for violin, cello, and piano, for the MCCF All Strings Considered concert, April 22, 2018, at Hidden Valley Music Seminars, Carmel Valley. I took advantage of excellent players being available, and I prefer this version.
