2020-Q3 Quarterly Communication to CSOA Members
October 6, 2020 (for quarter ending September 30, 2020)
CSOA Members are encouraged to notify Danny Fow (dannyfow@catt.com) of any changes to your email addresses. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding member communications, please feel free to contact Tom Mathis (ThomasRMathis@gmail.com).
With concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic so much on everyone’s mind, your CSOA board members wish each of you good health, safety, and peace of mind. We encourage you to follow CDC and other governmental guidelines for hygiene and health to combat spread of the virus. As neighbors, we want everyone in our community to remember that you have neighbors here who care about you and want to help when needed. Please call, text, or email one of us (or another neighbor) if you need assistance with errands (especially for obtaining medicine and food) or other challenges.
Third quarter 2020 updates:
· Next year’s annual meeting: The 2021 CSOA Annual Meeting of Members is tentatively scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2021. The board of directors will plan for that date unless and until Covid-19 pandemic concerns make a public meeting untenable. If it seems advisable to postpone the meeting or use an alternative meeting format, the board will adjust plans accordingly.
· This year’s annual assessment: As of October 1, forty CSOA members have paid their 2020 dues, leaving 15 outstanding. If you have not yet paid the $330 assessment for this year, please do so as soon as practical.
· Covenants Team Request: Our restrictive covenants contain language stating that they will expire on January 1, 2022, unless a majority of owners take action to extend them in 10-year increments. The volunteer team considering these issues recommended that the board involve an attorney in our consideration and planning. Danny Fow and Rodney Crowe will take the lead on this matter and plan to retain the Patty & Young law firm to provide legal counsel.
· Future Special Lake Assessments: At the 2020 annual members’ meeting, the CSOA membership voted to have the board initiate a study of special assessment alternatives for maintaining and replenishing a lake capital fund to address long-term lake remediation needs. This is under review and is expected to be a major topic on the agenda of the 2021 Annual Members’ Meeting.
· 2020 Lake-Related Projects: We have not achieved everything we hoped in regard to remediating lake problems so far this year, but in spite of several new challenges in and around the lake, there are several important accomplishments to report. In summary:
