The School-Based Assessment (SBA) is intended to assist students in acquiring certain critical, practical knowledge, skills and attitudes. It is a part of the learning activities carried out through grades ten and eleven and involve appropriate activities selected from the list of "Suggested Practical Activities" provided under each section of the Syllabus.
In addition to the grade awarded on the CSEC® certificate, the SBA also allows candidates to be awarded, where applicable, a Statement of Competence for the following Regional Occupational Standards for 1 Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ*):
1. CCAGH 10107 Level 1 in Crop Production; and,
2. CCAGL 10107 Level 1 in Livestock Rearing.
The procedures for conducting the SBA differs depending on whether you are studying for the Single Award (SA) or the Double Award (DA).
