The Single Award examinations are structured as follows:
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Paper Format: 60 Multiple Choice, worth 1 mark each, with 20 questions (14 of which will test your knowledge and comprehension and 6 of which will test your Application of the content) drawn from the different sections of the syllabus as follows:
Sections A and D (20); Section B (20); Section C (20).
Time: 2 hours
Paper Format: This paper consists of three sections, for a total of 60 marks.
Section I: The Business of Farming consists of two (2) compulsory essay-type questions from Sections A and D of the syllabus worth 10 marks each (3 marks on Knowledge and Comprehension and 7 on Application).
Section II: Crop Production consists of two (2) compulsory essay-type questions from Section B of the syllabus worth 10 marks each (3 marks on Knowledge and Comprehension and 7 on Application).
Section III: Animal Production consists of two (2) compulsory essay-type questions from Section C of the syllabus worth 10 marks each (3 marks on Knowledge and Comprehension and 7 on Application).
Format:
The SBA consists of a Portfolio comprising documentation of:
Ten (10) skill performances in the field rated on a 5-point scale (0-4) using criteria set out by CXC®.
Two (2) Investigations, one in crop production and the other in animal production. Each investigation will be marked out of 20 marks and will be scaled. Each include a Cost Analyses for the production of the crop/livestock, worth 10 marks of the 20 marks.
Total marks on the SBA will be 80.
Note that the SBA (Paper 03) accounts for the greatest percentage of the total marks (40%).
Papers 1 and 2 combined account for 60% of the total marks.

Note also that the emphasis of Paper 01 is Knowledge and Comprehension, while Paper 02 emphasizes the Application of Knowledge. The SBA gives equal emphasis to Knowledge and Comprehension and Application.
