Post date: Nov 13, 2011 4:20:21 PM

Thank you for all the birthday wishes this week. The treats will continue to provide a pick me up as we close out the calendar year. Mrs. Reed will be taking over the class from Wednesday to Friday this week while I attend fifth grade camp.

Spelling bee and geography bee are coming! Qualifiers will be held within class in the coming week so that we can find out who will represent our class.

Math

We have now wrapped up our algebra units and are working with multiplication. This week, we worked on multiplying by single digits and using estimation to check. Within stations, we continued to work with coordinate planes and graphing functions.

As we continue to work towards double digit multiplication within the text, we will continue with coordinate planes and graphing.

A few more basic facts tests were sent home this week (multiplication and division).

Language Arts

We are wrapping up the current theme within the HM series. We have one more story to read.

We will be reading from one of our core literature books, Island of the Blue Dolphins.in the coming weeks. Much of the reading will be done within class. We will be working on some language arts skills as we work with this selection.

Science

Science test will be on Thursday of this coming week. Please remember to turn in vocabulary and outline sheets.

Social Studies

Please continue working on the Native Californian choice menu activities. More time will be given this week in class for the students to continue to work on this project. Resources from the class website can be found here.

We continue to work through the chapter and have learned more about the Northern and Southern Coastal Native Americans. Do note students have been given the social studies study guide for chapter 2.
