Coopers Plains Local History Group to Develop Archival Database

Post date: Oct 15, 2009 8:20:38 PM

The Coopers Plains Local History Group is looking at using a database to record electronically information on its archival documents, and will also store the digital copy of each document.

The database is being developed by member, Neville Buch, using MS Access as the software program. Dr Buch hopes to trial the development of the database with the Coopers Plains Group, as well as the recently re-establish Sunnybank history group.

The database works by using standardised keywords or key phrases that can easily be entered on a form which records information about a single document. These keywords can be entered from a drop-down menu. Flexibility, however, is retained and other bits of information can be typed in as required.
