Cowboy Battalion Inspection
Inspection is one of the most important aspects of NJROTC.
This is when cadets must demonstrate attention to detail, leadership, knowledge, and self-discipline.
Inspection:
1. When the inspector gets into position say the following, Sir, Good (Morning/Afternoon) Sir,
2. The inspector will ask you questions (about things you should've learned in NJROTC), answer with a loud clear voice. (If you get it wrong it will still sound like you're confident with your answer which they might not put points off for having it wrong because you used a loud and clear voice)
3. If you do not know something say, "Sir/Ma'am this cadet does not know but will find out Sir/Ma'am."
Things that an inspector will look for during an inspection:
1. Does everything look like it is in the right place and worn correctly?
2. Does the cadet display good posture and military bearing?
3. Is the cap clean, neat, positioned correctly?
5. Is the cadet's face and hair clean and groomed properly?
6. Are the trousers/skirts, shirts, etc. clean, pressed, fit properly and in good repair?
7. Are the shoes shined and in good repair?
8. Are the ribbons and/or awards/medals correct (having been earned), worn in the proper order of precedence and properly positioned on the uniform?
9. Are the Service Designations (stars) positioned properly?
10. Is the aiguillette worn on the correct shoulder?
11. Is the cadet wearing unauthorized jewelry?
12. Has the cadet tied the necktie correctly?
Inspection Tips:
1. No inspecting officers inspect the same way.
2. Make sure there are no loose strings (Irish pennants) on your uniform.
3. Make sure your uniform down the the last detail is clean and pressed.
4. Some inspectors may act as though they want to see their face in the reflection from your "spit shined" shoes. SHINYYYY SHOE IS IMPORTANT WITH OUR BATTALION INSPECTORS .
