Current Commander(s) for Regulation: Cadet LT CDR Hollenbeck
The unarmed regulation team is open to anyone who wishes to participate in a drill team that marches in accordance to a basic drill card. For all who wish to be part of the team, all practices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays must be attended unless a legitimate excuse is delivered to CDR Testa and the Unarmed Reg Commander. For anyone interested in joining, note that it is the unarmed commander's job to choose the best 12 cadets for competition.
The cadets are picked for competition based on being able to:
-Follow the commands properly
-March consistently in cadence
-Stay aligned to the right
-Cover to the front
-NOT breaking bearing
-Adapt to any given position
-Prove reliability by showing up to practice
-Sharp movements
-Dedication and commitment to the team
Current Commander(s) for Exhibition: Cadet LT Cobb
Backup: Cadet Masster Chief Zoey O'brien
The unarmed exhibition team incorporates elements of marching, columns, flanks as well as clapping, exaggerated movements, and other creative techniques that add flourish to the cadets movements. Cadets performing their part of the routine use a combination of sharp, rigid movements and fluid, synchronized flair that differentiates what occurs in exhibition from cheer-leading. For all who wish to be part of the team, all practices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays must be attended unless a legitimate excuse is delivered to CDR Testa and, if possible, one of the Unarmed Ex Commanders.
The cadets are picked for competition based on being able to:
-Take the cue from commands (verbal or physical)
-March consistently in cadence
-NOT break bearing
-Move and perform with purpose
-Memorize at least their own position
-Prove reliability by showing up to practice
Note: For anyone wishing to ever become a staff member, it is MANDATORY to be on a team other than athletics.
Note: For anyone wishing to ever advance, especially to a chief rank, they must have leadership experience either as a commander, squad leader, or guidon.
