There are two types of prerequisites. It is important that each participant comes to the Field School with enough background to benefit from the educational experience. Since Field School problems require team activities, each participant will need to be able to support his or her team by having adequate preparation.

If you have not completed the General Ethnobotany/Ethnobiology course requirement, the following alternative exists.
The University of Hawai`i BOT 105 course video contents may be reviewed on-line and the text book reading assignments read as individual preparation without registering for the course. While this will not be as useful as taking the course, this alternative can serve as a useful refresher.
Certification Prerequisites
Professional organizations, such as the American Red Cross, periodically offer courses that provide standards-based training in essential skills.
Admission to the Field School and participation in its activities requires that each person become certified in the following skills.
