Chapter. A Controlled Experiment on the Process Used by Developers During Internet-Scale Code Search

Over the last decade, we have conducted studies, including interviews, surveys, and lab experiments on how programmers search for source code on the web. In this chapter, we synthesize results from these studies to describe the process of code search on the web.
