 The First ‘Colored”/Negro/African American Coach in the Washington D.C. (DMV) and perhaps the country (see Stats) to devise and implement a Racing Strategy utilized by his Track and Field Team, the Cardozo Clerks,1944/1945/1946/1947/1948, in Relay Racing that received National Acclaim and spirited his Teams to National Status at events such as The Penn Relays. His unique strategy prompted notice by the Amateur Athletic Union, whose editors asked him to write an article. Article published July 1947, The Amateur Athlete, “Splitting Seconds in Relay Racing”. The First High School Football Coach to hold the Nation’s Capitals Record of 63 consecutive wins, Undefeated 1942 through 1948. Sal was the First Coach to guide his Football team, the Cardozo Clerks, to regional championships with remarkable wins and successes, taking his team to the First Integrated City Championship in Washington DC.,1955.

                        Coaching Highlight:Cardozo High School 1942-1948; 1954-1964

  Won 105 games-lost 22; tied 8. Eight undefeated seasons; 1 perfect season (undefeated, untied, unscored on- 1948).     The undefeated 1955 team played in the first city championship since the game became integrated. Results: Cardozo 6-Gonzaga 6. Teams from 1942 through 1948 were undefeated in 63 consecutive games.-Coach Hall also was instrumental in the first Intergrated Public All Star Game in 1954.

Sal Hall's coaching career began at Washington D.C.'s Howard University- where he was Assistant Basketball Coach for 6 years. Coach Hall graduated from Howard with a A.B & M.A in Education, as an undergraduate, won 11 varsity letters in major sports: Football (3); basketball (4); swimming (2), soccer (2).
