Cardozo Clerks Team Information

ALMA MATER (REVISED BY Joseph L. Drew and the Cardozo Swimming Team, Class of 1953-1956)

Raising high its Purple Banner

On a lofty hill,

Stands the school we love so dearly,

And we always will.

Though the years may come between us

Be we far or near,

We shall always love thee truly,

Our Cardozo dear.

When the days that are before us

Bring us joy and pain,

Thoughts of thee, our Alma Mater

Strengthen us again,

May thy lessons keep us steadfast,

Free from harm or fear

Make us worthy of thy reaching,

Our Cardozo dear.

Cardozo was relocated from it's original location at Nineth and Rhode Island Avenue NW in 1950, when the District schools were integrated, and merged with all-white Central High at its current location. The school is now located at the corner of 13th and Clifton streets in Columbia Heights- the oldest operating school in the District.
