Stephen Burgess recently retired after just over 30 years as an academic in Australia. During that time his main research interest areas related to the use of IT, especially the Internet, by small businesses and non-profit organisations, including local sporting clubs. He played cricket in a local competition for many years and was involved in various club administrative roles during that time. After retiring as a player he was manager of the competition's Under 21 representative team, being selected as coach of the U21/U23 Team of the Century.
