UIL Academics

This is the Academic portion of Texas UIL Competitions. Almost all Saturday Tournaments are practice UIL Tournaments. Practice for what? The real UIL District, Region, and State meets are held in Spring. Usually, CLHS sends 4 members as a team to each event, and then winning members of District advance onto Region, and it continues onto State. Students who attend the UIL state meet are eligible for scholarships in their senior year.

Practice hard and show dedication for a chance of competing on our school team!

Number Sense: http://www.uiltexas.org/academics/number-sense [official overview]

This is a 10 minute test that requires memorization and rapid application of various formulas. All calculations must be performed only mentally, and answers must be written in pen and cannot be changed. Penalties for skipping and incorrect answers are relatively harsh, but don't let that deter you - it's the most exhilarating of them all! [imo]

General Math: http://www.uiltexas.org/academics/mathematics

This exam tests pure speed in curriculum-based math. The actual problems are very easy, requiring little to no skill. However, the catch is that the sixty given problems must be solved within forty minutes. This time crunch suddenly makes an easy-looking test one of the most challenging tests that UIL has to offer.
