Math Kangaroo is a popular international not-selective competition in mathematics for students in grades 1 through 12. The competition takes the form of a multiple choice test. Each participant is seen as a winner and receives recognition and gifts on the test day in March. Those who achieve the top results are awarded in May. The atmosphere of appreciation for the students' learning and the fun in each competition room across USA are the reasons why participants return year after year and bring their siblings and friends along. Math Kangaroo helps the students both to develop their skills and to enjoy mathematics even more.
Since its inception in 1991, Math Kangaroo has grown to encompass over 5 million participants in 40 countries.
The competition is relatively new to high schools in the US, so it is extremely easy to place even in the top 10 in the nation when you are competing with less than a hundred people.
Prizes include paid trips to a Polish math camp, Kindles, gift cards, and more!
To participate, it is simply $20 turned in to your treasurer. This money covers your test, a t-shirt, and a small commemorative trinket such as a pen light or bouncy ball.
The test always falls on the 3rd Thursday of March, which is March 21st, 2013.
