Wine tasting workshop and promotion offered to members

Co-organized with Vinci Pacific Limited, CUPA arranged a workshop of wine tasting. More than 40 members attended this activity which offered an opportunity to explore the fascinating and fun world of wine. Except for tasting Macedonia Wine, members know more about the history and production of this wine.

We would like to thanks Mr. Kristijan Mirkovski who comes from Macedonia, and kindly introduced wine business of his family and knowledge of different kinds of wines as well as its culture and tradition.

Due to the success and positive feedbacks from participants who joined the wine tasting workshop, Vinci Pacific Limited offered a special promotion to all CUPA members. Many members ordered the wine package through CUPA with an attractive discount. Both wine workshop and promotion are welcomed by members.

CUPA takes part in Oxfam Trailwalker fund-raising hiking

A team of 4 CUPA members participated in the challenging Oxfam Trailwalker on 21 November 2010. Oxfam Trailwalker, one of the largest fundraising sporting events in Hong Kong, aimed to raise funds to support various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects around the world. CUPA team members completed the 100 km trail in 28 hours 10 minutes.

CUPA is dedicated in encouraging its members to participate in similar charity events in the future. It is working to build a sense of social responsibility among its members, and to help more people in need around the world.

CUPA Secretary elected as Postgraduate Student Member of the University Council

Mr Mike Ng Ka-ho, Secretary of CUPA, was elected Postgraduate Student Member to the University Council in late October 2010. CUPA is a statutory representative of all CityU postgraduate students that aims to channel opinions between the University and its postgraduates. Mr Ng’s position in the Council will help strengthen the connection between postgraduate students and the University, which in turn will contribute to CityU’s long-term development.

Joint-U「HalloDeen」Dressing-up Party!

It’s the most thrilling Halloween party ever! The event is co-organized by CityU Postgraduate Association and the Chinese University Postgraduate Student Association. The event was hold on 30 Oct 10 at Hall B, Student Residence of CityU. More than 70 postgraduate students from CityU and CUHK joined our craziest HalloDeen party! They dressed-up as hero to fight against ghosts and dance with crowds of monsters. Members of the two associations enjoyed with photo-taking, happy dancing club, coolest dressing-up contest and heating-up games.

Monthly Special Program

For expressing thanks to members' long term support, CUPA runs a monthly prize draw from July. Every month members have a chance to win 2 movie gift vouchers of UA cinema or other selected gift for the month. 4 winners have been drawn in random from all of the enrollments received, each winner receives 2 UA Cinema Gift Vouchers valued at $130! Sharing with Dr Samson Tam, JP, Member of Legislative Council (I.T.) and Visit to the Legislative Council)

To promote leadership and citizenship, nine members joined the visit to the Legislative Council with Dr Samson Tam on 26 June 2010. Dr. Samson Tam shared with the members by carry out small-scale discussion, members had direct questions to see Dr. Samson Tam 's life, work and politics of experience and anecdotes. Dr. Samson Tam personally lead the tour inside the Legislative Council Building, including all familiar with the conference room, conference room, press conference room and banquet hall. Members enjoyed the Legislative Council of the architectural aesthetics, it also guided a better understanding through the work of the Council.

To promote interaction and communication among postgraduate students in Hong Kong and the mainland, the Management Postgraduate Association of Shenzhen University College invited representatives of the CUPA to be panelists at an open forum at Shenzhen University (SZU) on 27 March 2010, which included more than 50 postgraduate students from SZU.
