Your functional resume is a life long effort and we will work on it throughout the semester. For now, it will be assessed according to the criteria at the above link.
Update your resume every semester, while you are in school, and with each job and on-the-job training. It is an active living document of your strengths, experience and interests.
Sometimes I have many early college students, who are still in high school, so I developed the following service/mission statement for their consideration:
to complete high school and community college simultaneously, graduating college a week before high school; transfer to university in a field I am currently exploring
to value my education and opportunities, complete assignments, on time, with little or no supervision; get and give help when needed; respect and support myself, our teachers, fellow students, and learning environment, and learn as much about as many things as possible in order to make good decisions about my present and future.
There have been many sources for you to consult to get ideas for skill statements; shorten each statement, as much as possible, so that they only occupy one line on your resume. Each statement should start with a verb in first person present tense, never ability to or able to.
Over the next few weeks, you will continue to polish your resume and document your use, in the comment area of your resume page, for any of the following:
job search
advisement (select and register for next semester)
counseling
mentoring
scholarship application
University application
