Below are charts representing the final grades in sections of my previous semesters. Students who come to class and do their lab assignments, every week, usually get an "A". This class is portfolio based and you can meet with me, your instructor, for a reassessment, if you bring your work up to A criteria. There is a portfolio assignment due and assessed every week. The assignment is started in class, and finished in open lab. That is the hybrid nature of these sections and you can only succeed if you complete the assignments every week. Students who do not come to class and complete their assignments every week are withdrawn, usually for excessive absences.
Bottom line: If you are absent, you will not succeed this class. I teach at least 4 sections of CIS105 and, space permitting, you may move freely to my other sections. If you are absent, and do not attend another section, you will need to watch videos to learn what we covered. There is no textbook for you to consult. Come to open lab, immediately after your absence, and complete the missed assignment. Do not waste my or your time with excuses. Use that time and energy to make up what you missed.
